General Phlebotomy Info

"Phlebotomy" means to excise or cut into the vein of the human body.

We are open Monday and Wednesday 9am - 5pm
Friday 9am - 1pm

The healthcare industry is busy at work developing new cures for diseases, discovering fascinating new information about the human body and integrating sophisticated technology into every aspect of medicine. During the last decade, phlebotomy and the art of venipuncture has grown significantly as medicine has widened it’s boundaries outside the hospital. Traditional phlebotomy roles that originated inside the hospital are being performed anywhere now from free-standing laboratories to mobile blood donation units to private homes. If you have any interest in getting involved in the exciting world of healthcare, phlebotomy is a great opportunity to expose you to many new skills, technology and people! Phlebotomists can expect to work in any of the following places:

  • Hospital Laboratory
  • Blood Bank Center
  • Diagnostic Laboratory
  • Outpatient Clinics
  • Doctor’s Office
  • Health Fairs
  • Paramedical Examinations (Health Physicals and Histories including blood work for Life Insurance)
  • Emergency Rooms

Phlebotomy is a great way to begin your career in healthcare. In just 10 weeks of intensive training, PLC of Denver will prepare each individual to work in any environment. In addition, students and graduates of PLC of Denver will appreciate the exposure to many entry-level laboratory techniques and specimen handling procedures that will assist them in future employment. In fact, many phlebotomy employers expect their phlebotomists to learn more and perform many other tasks as part of their job description, earning the reputation as the “ultimate multi-taskers.”

Phlebotomists in the City and County of Denver can expect to make in the range of $11-15/hour based on experience, and the demand for phlebotomists. PLC of Denver students have been very well received throughout the Denver Metro area for over 10 years and have graduates working virtually everywhere in Colorado ranging from Wyoming to Pueblo, and from Windsor to Grand Junction.
